small market rick rack tote

small market rick rack tote, originally uploaded by buttonpom.

Hello Everyone!

Thanks for all your kind comment on flickr and my journal.
I really wish I had time to reply!
I will after the craft fair :)

Anyway, I have a question!
What do you think I should charge for these totes?

I am having a really hard time calculating it
because it if really charged for how much time it took me
I don't think the price would be reasonable!

The large take me 2.5 hours to make
and the small about 1.5 hours.
I was thinking $25-35 for the small tote (12.5" L x 10.5" H x 4" D)
and $40-60 for the large tote (18" L x 10.5" H x 3" D)
which I feel would be reasonable for the time I took to make them!

The large totes have 5 inside pockets (one to hold a pen) and the small totes have 2 inside pockets (also one to hold a pen).

I hope you can help! Just be honest and tell me how much you'd be willing to pay. I appreciate all your help. It means a lot to me.

I'd say $30 for small tote and $40 for the bigger one. I bought one about the same size as your big tote for $40 at a craft fair a few months back.

Those are resonable prices for your items. How I figure it you're actually getting more bang for your buck supporting an independent designer than buying mass produced items (and you're charging right around what they charge as well).

I love your work. What kind of sewing machine do you use?

thank you! :)
i use a activa 131 by bernina.
it is a middle of the road bernina
but is still SUPER expensive.
i wouldn't use anything BUT bernina, though.
unless it was an vintage sewing machine
still made with metal insides.

I have a Necchi ;) It's amazing.

My mom loves Bernina. I've been thinking about buying a newer sewing machine since I don't want to kill mine, but I've been seeing them pop up online for about the price of a *new* plastic (blah) sewing machine.

I too think those prices are reasonable. I was a little surprised at first, thinking they were totes, assuming there were no pockets inside, but with pockets that is totally reasonable!

These bags are so cute! I buy indie/crafty/handmade stuff all the time and think $35 for the small and $50 for the large is fair. You could always start higher than reprice lower if the bags don't move along...I also wanted to say hi and ask if i could add you as a friend--i stumbled upon you thru chalinn*s.
